Facing the Nebula Flayers

This is the first space combat we faced in a Star Wars roleplaying campaign which lasted an entire decade. We were ferrying some cargo to a far-off planet in Wild Space in our Kazellis light freighter when suddenly a group of starfighters belonging to the so-called "Nebula Flayers" attacked us and we barely got out of there alive. After evading a few warning shots from a Hornet Interceptor and a Dagger starfighter, and a missile launched by a Cloakshape fighter, we couldn't dodge a barrage from the tri-blasters of a Z-95 Mark-I Headhunter which damaged the ship, and then we got hit in the engines by a second missile from the Cloakshape. We only escaped because a second group of the Flayers appeared but started shooting at our attackers instead. Perhaps due to some rivalry, or fighting each other for their prey.
.
We later found out that some years earlier, before the Clone Wars, most teenagers among the first colonists of that sector went mad. Some sort of psychosis turned them into smart and violent beings who were now terrorizing the region. The incident coincided with a mass vaccination campaign by a company called Nebula Pharmaceutics, and although no relation to this could be proven, the name stuck. Others believe the doctors were performing clandestine tests of psychological weaponry, but this is dismissed as a rumor. Perhaps a native plague or parasite would be more likely…

To figure out the full geometry of the Kazellis in a satisfactory way (people would fit inside standing up; the entry ramp and landing gear would deploy properly; the cargo lift, docking port and escape ports would have actual locations) I drew some orthographic views over the years, which let me create a rough 3D model on which to project the panel lines and use it for reference: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/2ByEze

This drawing is made using a mechanical pencil with a grade 2B lead, and everything but the Kazellis, the Cloakshape fighter, and part of the explosion had the colors inverted in Photoshop so the white paper appeared black and the pencil strokes white.

3D models for the Cloakshape fighter and the Millennium Falcon from which I extracted the laser turret are available here: https://scifi3d.com/2021/07/star-wars-ultimate-vehicles-pack/
The Z-95 Headhunter 3D model is from the defunct Star Wars Modelling Alliance: https://web.archive.org/web/20010411114829/http://swma.net/archives/rebel/fighters/fighters.php
