JWST eclipse

Since the start of 2021 I've been working on the processing of simulated data for the MIRI instrument in the James Webb Space Telescope, and mere weeks before the launch I decided to draw it in space (while really hoping everything went well!).

The positioning of the telescope, Sun, Earth, Moon and Milky Way are an approximation of the view in July 2022, when scientific observations should start after 6 months of commissioning. Bear in mind the field of view is only about 20 degrees for the Earth and Moon to appear that large, however.

Done with mechanical pencils with 0.5 mm and 0.7 mm leads on white paper, and inverted in Photoshop.
